Hit: Hit is when an individual asks for another card after they have been dealt their two original cards. Individuals can hit as much as they like, however they have to be careful not to bust (go over 21).

Stand: To stand is when a person chooses not to have any more cards dealt to them. This is usually done if a person is close to 21 and is afraid of busting.

Double down: This is when a person doubles their bet after they’ve gotten their first two cards.

Surrender: This means to give up one’s cards and decrease their original wager by half if they feel like they are going to lose.

Bust or Break: This is when the sum of an individual’s cards is over 21. They bust and lose.
